The Pillnitz castle (Schloss Pillnitz) is a castle built in baroque style 10km southeast of the centre of Dresden along the Elbe river. The castle is surrounded by a park and was the summer residence of many electors and kings of Saxony. It was built in the 18th century on the site of a former 14th century residential fortress.
