The Königssee (literally "kings's lake") is a lake lies in southern Bavaria close to the Austrian border and the city of Berchtesgaden. The lake was formed by glaciers during the last ice age and with 190m depth is Germany's deepest lake. It is advertised as the cleanest lake in Germany. Only electrical boats, rowboats and pedal boats have been allowed on the lake since 1909.
