Berchtesgaden

Berchtesgaden, a small town in southern Bavaria close to the Austrian border, lies in a beautiful setting in the Bavarian alps. Mount Watzmann (2713m), the third-highest mountain in Germany, the deep glacial K�nigssee lake and the Kehlstein mountain (1835 m) with the famous Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle's Nest) lie nearby. Berchtesgaden is known internationally because here the Nazis and Hitler used to reside frequently.
