Piraeus is a harbour city located about 10km southwest of the centre of Athens. Here is where the ferries to the Aegean islands depart. The port of Piraeus is also the main port in Greece, the largest passenger port in Europe and the third largest in the world, serving 20 million passengers annually. It's also the top container port in the eastern Mediterranean.
