Central Thailand includes the wide, fertile valley of the Chao Phraya river, a region of plains where much of Thailand's rice is grown. The area was the heartland of the Ayutthaya kingdom, and is still the most important area of Thailand. Bangkok, the capital of Thailand is located here. Central Thailand is the most populated region in the country.
