Watermelon plantation

Some photos of a watermelon plantation in the Peloponnese, Greece. The watermelon plant is a vine-like herb originating from southern Africa and one of the most common types of melon. The fruit is a berry with a thick rind (the exocarp) and a fleshy centre(mesocarp and endocarp). Watermelons are grown in many countries and China is the largest producer.
