The Upper Svaneti region covers a part of the Greater Caucasus mountain range. Here there are several peaks over 4000m high. At 5201m Mt Shkhara is the highest mountain in Georgia. Mt Ushba has twin peaks, 4700m high. Mt Tetnuldi in the central part of the Greater Caucasus is the 10th highest peak in the Caucasus (4858m). A ski resort (2265m - 3165m of altitude) was opened in 2016 on the slopes of Mt Tetnuldi. Several glaciers are located above 3000m of altitude.
