Brunei River Area and Water Village

A selection of pictures of the Brunei river and the Kampong (Kampung) Ayer water village. Kampong Ayer is a collection of 28 centuries-old water villages on the Brunei river. About 30000 people live there.
The small girl in picture 12 smiled at me and posed for me, which is surprising considering that in muslim countries people don't like to be photographed (but they like taking pictures of western tourists). People in Brunei are very friendly and interested in tourists, perhaps because Brunei doesn't get so many of them.
