Plaza de Espana is a large square in central Madrid near the Royal Palace, bordered by the Edificio Espana and the Torre de Madrid residential building. Edificio Espana seems to be in disuse at the moment. In the centre of the square lies the monument to the Spanish poet and writer Miguel de Cervantes. This is surrounded by a pond and includes bronze sculptures of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. The Estacion del Norte is a railway and metro station which has been partially converted to a shopping mall.
