The Old Town of Warsaw (Stare Miasto) is one of the most scenic parts of the city. It dates back to the 13th century, when construction began around the royal castle, back then the residence of the Masovian dukes. The old town was entirely destroyed during WW II and completely rebuilt after then. It is a UNESCO world heritage site.
