The Maliau basin reception information building (the security gate) is the access point to the Maliau basin. Visitors park their car in the parking and proceed to the studies centre in 4WD cars. Along the road, a wooden view tower provides views of the Maliau basin and the surrounding rainforest. The Agathis camp is the starting point of the treks into the Maliau basin. Because wild elephants destroyed it, it is no longer possible to spend the night here. In the Ginseng camp there is an open air dormitory, a toilet, a kitchen and living quarters for staff. Paved roads connecting the studies centre with the security gate and the Agathis camp have been completed in 2017.
