Located in the southern part of China's northeast. Liaoning is a Chinese province bordering the Yellow Sea in the south, North Korea in the southeast and mainland China to the north. Geographically Liaoning province consists of highlands in the west, plains in the middle, and hills in the east. Liaoning is part of Manchuria.Liaoning has a continental monsoon climate (summer being the rainy season) with rainfall averaging to about 440 to 1130 mm annually. The major cities in Liaoning are its capital Shenyang, an area with several industrial complexes (mainly steel and iron) and the city of Dalian, which has China's northernmost ice-free port.
