The Al Ain national museum lies next to the Al Ain oasis in the centre of Al Ain. Inaugurated in 1971, it is the oldest museum of the U.A.E. The museum has an archaeological section with pottery, weapons, jewellery, coins and other objects dating up to the 3rd millenium BC, excavated in the nearby Umm an-Nar and Hili sites. The ethnographic section is focused on the life of Beduin and settled people.
