The Singapore zoo lies in the centre of the Singapore island and is reachable by public transportation from central Singapore (the trip takes 1h - 1h30). It occupies an area of 28 hectares and was set up at the beginning of the 1970s. It is an open zoo, meaning that animals do not live in cages, but in 65 landscaped exhibits with boundaries conceived to look as natural as possible.
