The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is built on a site occupying 416000 sqm. The built area covers an area of 40000 sqm. The mosque was built between 1995 and 2001 using 300000 tonnes of Indian sandstone. The main minaret is 90m tall and four flanking minarets are 45m tall.
