Negeri Sembilan means "land of the nine states", a reference to the nine districts of Negeri Sembilan, each of which is ruled by a Malay chieftain. It is located south of Kuala Lumpur on the western coast of peninsular Malaysia. Negeri Semibilan is home to the Minangkabau who settled there coming from western Sumatra. The influence of the Minangkabau can be seen in the characteristic architecture - the houses with the bull horn-shaped roofs. The main attractions of Negeri Sembilan are the Sri Menanti royal palace and Seremban, the capital of Negeri Sembilan
