Kuala Terengganu, the capital of the state of Terengganu, lies on peninsular Malaysia's east coast at the mouth of the Terengganu river. It has over 400000 inhabitants and an airport with direct flights to KL. Kuala Terengganu is a nice and colourful Malaysian city, but does not have that many tourist attractions - places of interest include Chinatown, Pasar Payang, the Sultan's Palace and the State Museum. Most visitors transit through Kuala Terengganu on their way to the nearby islands (Redang and Pulau Kapas) and Kenyir lake.
