The Treasury (Arabic name: Al Khazneh) is a monument carved into the sandstone rock on the cliff where the Siq ends. It is one of the most elaborate buildings in Petra and has a Hellenistic-influenced architecture. While most of the facade of the Treasury is very well preserved, the statues details have been defaced probably by iconoclasts. The Treasury was probably built in the 1st century BC. Inside the Treasury there is a large empty chamber.
