Modern Jakarta

Much of central Jakarta consists of modern buildings, which have often been built on the site of older, colonial era buildings. The skyline of the business district around Jalan Sudirman is quite esthetic, with lots of skyscrapers and office blocks. Supposedly Jakarta is the city with the largest number of shopping malls in the world. Many of these malls are high-end, focusing on branded goods.
