With an altitude of 1884m the Rotwand is the highest mountain of the Spitzingsee area. The climb from Spitzingsee takes almost three hours because the mountain is further away from the Spitzingsee lake than the other peaks of the area. The last section of the trail is on steep slopes requiring a good balance and lack of fear of heights. In winter it is necessary to cross some snow fields to reach the summit.
