South Nicosia is the southern part of the divided city of Nicosia. The historical core lies within the ring of Venetian walls, which are circular in shape with a radius of 1-1.5km. Ledra street crosses the historical core leading to the border crossing to north Nicosia. Ledra street is also the main shopping street in Nicosia. The Archbishop's Palace, built in the 1950s, is the official residence and office of the archbishop of Cyprus. The Mall of Cyprus is a large and modern shopping mall located a few km south of the historic core. It opened in 2007.
