Currently a motorway is being built between Baku and Sheki. This leaves Baku and crosses initially dry plains, then quickly reaches the greater Caucasus mountain range. The Diri Baba mausoleum is 90km west of Baku, just outside the city of Qobustan. The mausoleum is a two-storeyed building carved into the rock, completed in 1402 for the sheikh Diri Baba. The mausoleum is relatively unimpressive, but attracts many pilgrims and visitors.
